3rd in Electrotechnology Competition

The title says it all. I just found out I came equal third in an Australia wide competition open to year 9, 10, 11 and 12 (I'm in year 10 so I was competing against year twelves doing major projects at school). You had to write an application to show the judges projects you've created and things you've done that relate to electrotechnology. I wrote an application featuring my Laptop 64 but I also talked about :

- winning robocup junior twice at regional levels and going to state and nationals. I was used an RCX and this year I was competing against several NXT robots that gave me a run for my money.

- The status of my arcade machine at the moment and the design of the cabinet to come. It will be a cocktail cabinet so it won't take up too much space and also because my dad has nostalgiac memories of cocktail cabinets and galaga.

- work experience where I got to assemble things like motor controllers for longwall mining machines. It is a friends business that he runs out of the bottom of his house. It was great job satisfaction when he would take the finished products and go post them off to China and other places.

- Kit projects that taught me to solder, love electronics and how I have adapted them to fit my own purposes. EG an SMS controller kit that has become an alarm on our boat that can tell us if someone has broken in and can also detect a short in the boats electrical system.

Anyway that was the basis of my application and I came equal third. I get to go to a reception in Sydney where the secondary schools awards will be just some of the awards presented. As well as great CV and scholarship application material I also get $250 AUD which I will put towards ordering an open pandora in the next preorder

I know there are many more deserving people on this forum for an award like this so I want to hear about other competitions that you've won with the help of your electronically related creations. Be they robots portables or souped up computers.

I won soccer level junior regional robocup this year. what catagory did you run in?

I competed in premier rescue. It was annoying because my RCX light sensors could not detect the difference between green and black and would say they saw green when going between white and black. I had to make a function that checked twenty times, once every hundredth of a second. When it checked and every reading said green I could call a function to handle the green.
