slot2 schematic

Post by actionfence »

does anyone happen to have a schematic for an NDS slot2 SD device? Would like to make a Flash drive of a sort for the DS.

Always consult GBATEK! That info + much more is right there.

Just a note.... Give up on building a GBA flashcart, you can buy them for under $30, this will cost you at least $50-60njust for parts. MAny have tried, most give up.

Now, if you do not care about cost, and want to do this for fun... Then go right ahead. :D

It's gonna be more than just a flash cart, I have this whole idea brewing, and when the schematic is finished I'm gonna post it.
I doubt I am gonna be able to build what I am designing, or program what I am wanting to make it for, but the design is gonna be for all.

Care to share? One of the biggest problems on help boards are people that think they know the best way to do something, ask for help with it, when there are actually easier, better solutions.

I in particular am pretty familiar with the GBA internal working, along with the DS, so perhaps I could help. :)

Okay first off, I am not a programmer, I design the games, and have yet to find programmers. I am new to the whole electronics scene as in schematics, and found this: http://gbatemp.net/index.php?showtopic=99143&st=0.

The idea: so about 3 years ago I wanted to get a group together to make an open FPS sorta like Unreal Tournament, where maps mods and characters could be added. The graphics and whatnot were gonna be somewhere between Doom and Unreal, hopefully 3D. Have the main Engine run on the DS slot 1 cart, while the extras are on the Slot2 cart. utilizing the whole "expansion" idea.

The application: The Guitar Hero Guitargrip hardware, added the accessability of four new buttons. A few weeks back I started rethinking the idea for the open FPS for the DS. With the four new buttons we could add another set of direction buttons. And with a bit more tweaking we could add 2 more shoulder buttons. With the directions each being one button and the two opposing sets of directions as the two extra shoulder buttons.

Basically:
Blue = Left
Yellow = Up
Red = Right
Green = Down
Blue + Red = L2
Yellow + Green = R2

Having a shell built that can slide over the bottom half of the DS (not going to be able to close the lid), making the world of FPS games on the DS more user friendly.

I have drawn up a rough schematic for the buttons, but am needing to add the flash and/or expansion stuff to it.

That is the basic idea of my project, I will accept all help I can get.

Thanks.
