New Forum Permissions by benheck himself

Post by benheck »

I've had some complaints about spammers, dumb threads etc. While I think the forums should be open to everyone it's also important that we keep things in order.

So I've changed the permissions. They are now as follows:

View/Read stuff: All
New topics/posts/replies: Registered Users
Edit/Delete posts/topics: Moderators
Vote on polls: Registered Users
Create Polls: Moderators

Hopefully this will encourage people to look for answers to things before posting the same kind of questions over and over. Again, here are the basic rules of the forums:

No discussing religion or politics!
No pointless bandwidth-sucking un-videogame hacking realted topics (only I get to create those :)
No flaming other users!
Please keep topics in their appropriate game-specific forums
Reasonably sized avatars and sigs

This forum is growing and of course there's going to be some growing pains, but I think we can all work through this together. Thank you for your time.

What was the problem with editing? It's a feature a lot of users depend on...

Yes, editing should be allowed.

I always get the posts wrong the first time, I edit 4 out of 5 posts. None of the other things really bother me, I could care less for polls and that other stuff, but no editing...

Ok, I'll turn editing back on. What about post deletion?

Deletion would be cool to add, and change the upload thing. Uploading avatars would eat up more bandwidth!

Good call. I think this is about the best we can hope for as far as "fixing the problems." Thanks, Ben.

Anyone can delete another person's post, even guests :P

seriously, I like it how it was, where you can delete your posts as long as it was the last one. That works out well :)

Also, how did you like that leet eliminator idea I had earlier? Very few people around here really like the stuff, ya know

I'll be honest with you - I would have never guessed that.

Yeah I figured people might delete posts they don't like or something. So if you write it, you're stuck with it but can change it. But only mods can delete something
