I've heard lots of praise for the arkanoid controller that came with the game for the NES. People say it just plays better with the paddle controller. However, the controller is rare. I'm just a hobby collector who can't justify spending ridiculous amounts of money on a controller. Just searching ebay in research for this post, I found one auction for just the "VAUS" controller for about $45 and one with the controller and a copy of arkanoid for $22. That's a little pricey for me. I picked up an NES Advantage today for less than $5.
So, has anyone attempted a homebrew version of the "VAUS" controller? I don't think it would be that tough. Plus, it's gotta be cheaper than buying the real one. Also, I bet some forum members here would like to make some sweet-looking cases for the controller. Someone would probably need to hack an official controller, though.
