10v to PSOne screen?

10v to PSOne screen?
My NES portable is just about completed! All that's left is the case, which should be done quite soon. I'm using the original NES mobo and a PSOne screen.
I have a 4500mAh portable DVD player battery that says it's rated at 7.5v. I've tested it with my multimeter, and it actually tests at 10.3v. With the NES and screen hooked up it drops to about 8v, so the screen should be okay, right? I've been running the combo for about a month now with no problems, but before I finish up this portable, I need to know: Will the screen will be fine, or if I need to get a 7.5v converter for it?

It should be fine at 8v, but people have seen the PSOne screen get pretty freaky at 9... when you hook the battery up, was it running on a full charge? It could be outputting 8v because it's had a slight voltage drop-off while discharging. It'd be bad news if you charged it all the way and had 10v go and screw up all your hard work!

Okay, good. So the only way to get 9-10v to it in this case would be to use a 12v battery? No you said use a 12v battery to get 10v into it. But that is wrong. You use a 10v battery to get 10v under load. A 12v battery would put out 12v under load.Mario wrote:That's what I just said! Yes the voltage drops under load.
But a 10v rated battery outputs around 10v under load, it will output 11-12v when not under load.
A 12v rated battery will output 12v under load and about 13-14v when not under load.
A 8v battery will output 8v under load and around 10v when not under load.
Now which one do you need if you want 10v under load...... a 10v battery.
See the battery rating is an under load rating as you found out with the 8v battery.
