Hacking up a SNES controller

Can anyone see any reason why you couldn't just cut a controller in half position the pad and the buttons where you want them and then join up the cut tracks ?

It seems too easy to work so I thought I would run it past the experts

You can but why waste a good controller when you can build one for cheaper?

I have a couple of spare controllers so I thought it would be cheaper than buying the bits.

My PSOneP and three SNESp's that I've built were made in the fashion you mentioned. If you have extra controllers on hand, it's definitely cheaper to use something you already have.

..and let's face it, SNES controllers are very cheap. I pay about Â£1 each for mine ($2). Car boot sales.
