Someone scammed me...What should I do?EDIT:SCAMMER REVEALED!

SEE PAGE 5 for UPDATE!

The member nintendo fan (http://forums.benheck.com/profile.php?m ... ile&u=6840) has ripped me off. I sent him a DS flashcart, a DS expansion pack, a 1gb microsd, a 2gb microsd, pokemon blue, and a custom painted black and silver gameboy color, overclocked to double speed. He owes me $100 plus Zelda OOT 64, and a genesis controller.

I sent him the stuff, he gets it, says he is sending payment. Then he says it will be a few days. Then a week. After stalling, it ended up being more than 5 weeks. One day, he says he is sending it that afternoon. After that....Nothing. He is not on AIM, will not respond to emails. I got hold of someone who knows him online, and he says that he has vanished from the inter-webs. To make it more complicated, the guy I have the name of is his older brother, who was apparently paying for this (I AIM's with him a bit). His older bro has also disappeared.

Normally, I would just post this in the feedback section, but I have some questions:
What should I do? I have his real life address and IP address, as well as a myspace profile and AIM username. I am trying to get a phone number, as well.

Should I post this info to give this guy a face and to warn others away? Should I file a police report? Should I call a hit on him? (Just kidding. Mostly.

Ummm.... This is the trading post, right? Maybe forum 42 would be better.. Mods, move this if I posted wrong, if I did, I am sorry.

And of course, you really think I expected a refund from Ben or something? I just wanted ideas on what I should do. Come on killgood, you are kinda trolling here. Not that I should talk.

Here's my suggestion... Grab all the evidence you got and file a police report. In my opinion, it's fraud. And thus illegal and punishable by law.

this has happened to me before (on ebay surprisingly). The guy says he'll pay in a few days, then a few weeks, then he just ignores you. There's really not much you can do to get your money. I don't know how effective police reports are. Anyway, I've always wanted to have the experience of traveling the scammer's house and having a talk (or fight) with him, lol

File the police report in his town.

Give them all the information and copies of the Emails or Pm's you have. Give them the Name/address of the individual.

The local Police Dept should send someone to his house to question him. It should shake him up a bit.

Yeah I got scammed a while back to here, by dshacker.

All I sent him was a completly broken old Phat DS and a Working PSone as payment for what he was SUPPOSED to do.

I have gotten over it.

If you sent him stuff, you should have his address. That should be plenty to find his phone number or file a police report.

exceptions. acceptions sounds like a word, but its not.

EDIT: to make an actually meaningful point..

IGN just put up a story in their gear section about a gamestore selling a used stolen ps3 to someone. He turned it on, went onto PSN dloading some stuff, etc etc. The cops showed up at his door, he showed proof of purchase, and the store got in trouble. In the end, the guy ended up getting a 360 for free from the store

Why is this relevant? Well someone filed the stolen ps3, and police were watching for the IP to pop up again.

Point: IP's are good to have. Send that along with everything else, and there is no way they wouldn't do something.

On Engadget, he said the guy logged in to the real owner's PSN network account.

IP addresses are unique to you only. It's not on the device.

Yeah, you got his address, so basically you got him. Gather all youur information, evidence, and print it all out and file a police report. Make everything super clear for the police, so they can know exactly what to do and quick!
