Fixing a DS lite? (Can anyone help?)

Hi
I bought my boyfriend a DS lite for his birthday and I bought it used at Gamestop. So I don't believe there is a warranty on it?

Anyways, just yesterday he found out that the bottom touch screen doesn't work anymore. It's just a blank white screen and in the left bottom corner there is some green pixels. The top screen is fine and all the buttons work. I'm thinking he might have somehow ruined the bottom screen? He thinks he just landed on it hard that the bottom screen doesn't display anything but the lcd works, it's just all white.

I was wondering if there was anyone out there who coud maybe fix it if we paid for the needed materials and some labor? Unless anyone knows of any place that could fix it.

But I must say that we don't exactly know what the problem is. Can we just have the bottom screen replaced or is there more too it (Unless it actually has to be physically looked at...)?

It should have a warranty on it. The used Ds's I've bought have had warranties on them. Been useful too as one had a knackard touchscreen. How long has it been since you bought it?

Your factory warranty may be up, but you might be able to return it to GameStop if you've still got the receipt. If not, it sounds like the bottom screen is just damaged. When you say there are green pixels, is it just a small batch of pixels that are green, or is it more like a green fluid in part of the screen? To me it sounds like there's a crack on the LCD somewhere.

You can actually buy a replacement screen and install it yourself, though there are some very minute parts in the DS Lite and it might be tricky. If you don't feel comfortable doing it yourself, I'm sure someone here would do it if you put a thread up in the trading post. You can buy the screens at many online retailers, but I'd recommend DealExtreme due to the cheap price tag. Their site seems to be down now, though.

I bought it back in April. But I don't think he has the receipt. He...loses things easily.

^ that's an awesome game<3 hehe Anyways ummm..well.... I think it's just green pixels... It doesn't..look like liquid. In fact, I think it actually kind of looks cool *lol* It almost looks like some one cut a slit into the screen and you can see the "insides" of it. It actually looks mechanical-like, cyber like. XD

Anyways I'll try posting help on the trading posts. Thanks a lot for your suggestions!

Nice to see someone else with good taste in games.

I probably should've asked this question from the start, but can you see the damage when the screen isn't powered off? That would be a sure-fire sign that it's damage to the screen itself and not some underlying problem.
