Supposedly ZodTTD, the famed software developer for just about every open-source device under the sun, has gotten a hold of a picture of Game Park Holding's next device called Wiz. The whole dual d-pad thing looks really funky, and I guess it's not exactly a powerhouse. If anyone but Zod posted this, I'd be quick to call them a liar and say it was just a ripped pic of a cheap Chinese PMP somewhere. Eh, who knows, maybe GPH really is stupid enough to throw that piece of crap up against the Pandora?

Then again, for the right price and specs, it could be a neat item.

EDIT: Despite my complaints earlier about this being potentially fake, it's the real deal. The specs as I know it so far are that it uses the MagicEyes Pollux SoC (System on Chip), which is a 533MHz ARM9 processor. Should they clean up the design, this could be a good little system depending on the price point. I can see it really appealing to people who don't wanna pony up for Pandora, but who do want the "next gen" homebrew experience.

I had a feeling something like this would happen. It appears GPH is contacting people asking them to take the photo down. Anyways, check the first post.

Their statement given to the fellows over at GP32x was this:

So, does that thing have hardware 3D acceleration? If not, the Dell Axim x50v beats it up and takes its lunch money. (624 mhz Intel Xscale ARM compatible, Intel 2700G GPU and VGA out!)

Korean chipmaker MagicEyes Digital has announced an ARM9-based system-on-chip (SoC) intended for low-end navigation devices and PMPs (personal media players). The Linux-friendly "Pollux" SoC features on-chip 3D graphics acceleration, an NTSC/PAL video encoder, and a video DAC with picture-in-picture capabilities.

Said to be suitable for applications such as 3D mapping, the Pollux's 3D graphics accelerator supports one digital and one analog display simultaneously, with screen sizes up to 1280 x 1024 pixels. Open GL ES 1.1-compliant, the accelerator can do 3D texture mapping, lighting, shading, fogging, Z-Buffering, and alpha-blending. It can manipulate 133M texels (texture elements) or 1.33M polygons per second, MagicEyes claims.

So I guess the answer to your question is yes, but to what extent it will be utilized I don't know. I would say the GP3x beats out the Axim regardless due to its lack of good controls, but if they keep things as they are control-wise, I don't think I can even try to make that argument!

Is it just me, or does the cord sticking out of it look FAKE. The colors seem...off, and its blurry when it really shouldnt be.

The cord is at an odd angle, yes, but the whole "OMGFAIK" comments have been discarded by GPH themselves.
