I'm having surgery today

I got a unknown mass on my right foot. The doc don't know exactly what it is. He thinks it's a fatty tumor but he's not completely sure. And the MRI I had a few weeks about didn't shed any light on the subject. So he is going to remove my strange bump from my foot.

Also When I was reading the the consent form for the surgery. I love how they tell all the bad thing could happen. Like death, could become a vegetable, etc... And all of this for a simple surgery that the doc says has little to no chance of something going seriously wrong.

I heard of this one guy who got surgery on his foot and the doctor severed a nerve or something and the guy developed a condition because of that that gives him severe chronic pain. He had to be shipped over to europe somewhere to be injected with huge amounts of ketamine to try to reboot his body. I haven't heard if it worked or not but you better hope it does

They tell all that stuff to you just so that you know what can happen and that you or your family can't sue them if it does happen.

A fatty tumor in your foot? No chance of death there, unless the doc misses your foot with the scalpel and hits your chest. And how often does that happen?

Don't worry about it and good luck. My sister, whose six, has to have surgeries regularly on her face so a vein-malformation doesn't become to big.

The only thing is, that the fatty tumor is in between two major nerves mr my foot. That the only worry we have.

Surgery isn't so bad, really... ask anyone who has had it done. I had my tonsils out when I was 4, and didn't remember anything about it. I was hoping my wisdom teeth removal (which took place last March) would be the same. Sure enough, I was sitting in a chair. The doctor had me bite down on a wedge to keep my mouth open, and told me that when I woke up I'd be told to bite down on gauze and that'd be totally normal. I said that's fine, then all of a sudden I was told to bite down on the gauze. The surgery was already done.

The first time it was supposed to be done, I was only just before told about the side effects. I had no idea what it would be like if I got dry socket, or even what my likelihood would be (turns out, it's pretty low) but got nervous that I was feeling fine, but that something would be done to me that could make me get this thing that sounds horrible. I passed out, and had to do it later. When I was done, I found that it really wasn't that bad at all.

My mom works as a nurse and has been all over in her hospital. In general when the put someone out they ask them to count back from some number. She always says that you would be surprised how many people wake up after the surgery and continue to count right from where they left off.

Only surgery I had really wasn't much of a surgery, but I had to be put under so they could pop my bone in my arm back into place, that is about it.

I have had way too many broken bones already in my life, broke my left wrist twice, and my right arm once, that to me is too many broken bones, the arm being the worst and having to have a cast on for 8 weeks instead of the 4 that was required for my wrist, not to mention needing a full arm plaster cast for half of the time.

Last medical test i had that required sedation, my doctor just got back from hong kong for a medical convention thing. I was telling him about my friend at work that was born in HK and I went under mid-sentence haha.

surgery sucks but you'll be fine, best of luck, and I will win all medical based threads even if I can't find my transplant scar picture.
