PS2 question

I might be getting another phat ps2 to repair. the problem with it is it freezes at the main menu, and the disc tray only open when you grab and pull, and you close it by pushing it in. Is this an easy fix?

Well, the drive would be fixed by replacing the motor probably. Might be fixable.

First thing I would do is give it a good cleaning. Also, make sure than the guides for the laser are straight and the right size (saw someone try to repair a PS2 by using a guide that was too thick, it didn't work).

The problem with PS2s on ebay is that the gene pool is very polluted. Don't assume that you will be able to fix it without having to buy more parts because you very well may need to. Good luck.

Thanks Chapel. Don't worry. The price I'm getting it for I can easily sell it for double still broken. I'm willing to put in about $50 bucks to fix it.
