runa dvdplayer or satalite into a verge 5" lcd screen?C
hey everyone, i have a 5" verge lcd that my son uses with the the xbox when we go on trips. i bought the lcd from circuit city or best buy several years ago. I am trying to find out if i can run a dvd player or satalite tv into this. I have rca cables with the small av jack on the other end, but it does not seem to work, and i am wondering if there is a simple converter or possible cord to accomplish this. If i hook it up to the xbox(with the xbox cable it came with), it works fine. Also wondering if there is a way to hook up s-video to this. I realise this is slightly off topic, however i search all over the internet and there seems to be a lot of knowledge about these lcd screens in these forums.Somebody has had to have built an optionional video-in plug on one a these cool little portable master peices. I have been reading for several hours and find it fascinating(especially after owning almost all of the consoles talked about at one time or another growing up). anyway, if anyone has any advice let me know. I am not oposed to building a cable or soldering a few wire the the lcd board or whatever. thank you.

the screen has an av input( the on that looks like a headphone jack).. I am using a cable that has three rca connectors(one video and two audio), and on the other end it has what looks like a head phone jack, except it has three band instead of two. The cord i am using looks physicaly correct and plugs into the dvd player and the screen, but screen does'nt work.

I figured it out.I now have a rca to AV Cable to run whatever i want into a verge 5" lcd. there is several different ways an rca(composit)to av cable can be configured. is has to do with where the audio and video come into the 4 pole av plug. I cut my cable and rewired it and the little screen works great now. I am watching tv on it as i type this.I found info at this web sight. The verge requires it to be wired like the last example on the page.

My cable was originaly wired like the first example.. The verge lcd requires that video come in on pins 1 and 4 of the mail AV plug(zenith, xbox, and psone are most likely the same) . Pin 1(the tip of the plug is nowcomposit video(comes from center of rca plug). and pin 4 the base of the plug is now video ground(comes from the outer part of the rca plug... It took me all day to figure this out(but i learned lots of cool stuff along the way). I hope my findings may help someone else in the future. This is a great forum(i may go dig up my old super nintendo and start tinkering with it.). see ya.
