Need a 7.5v to 12v DC-DC converter - Edit:Fixed

Post by sam_thornley »

I need to step up 7.2-7.5v to 12v, to power a Sharp LCD pannel. I only use 7.2v batteries for my portables because in the past i been only using the psone screen. I've got hold of this good quality sharp 5.6" LCD pannel that takes RGB+Sync. Its datasheet says that both the backlight and controller board need 12v a 650ma to work. I've tried to power it a 7.5v but theres just a blank screen. At 12v it works fine and shows an image. All the control board seems to run at 12v (no 7805s or 5v). So i need a way of stepping up 7.2v to 12v, with a dc-dc convertor. Any one have any diagrams to do this? DC-DC convertor chip that i can use? I don't want to buy a new battery because i got a new 7.2v 4600mah ni-mh battery that i brought for this project that i'm working on. Any ideas?

I decided to go with a 7.2v psone screen and use the 12v sharp screen for a Dreamcast portable later this year.
