Wanting to expand my technical brain. Phreaking? Hacking?

Hey guys. I want to expand my technical knowledge (Hey, Might aswell start young).

Lets set one thing striaght before I continue. Hacking, phreaking, software cracking are NOT illegal to learn. Depending on the use, they can be illegal to preform. (White hatting is Legal. These days, its called a security hacker. A security hacker fixes security holes and flaws in a network that they have rights to. If they do not have rights, they will USUALLY contact the admin of the network and notify of the changes.)

Also, I or anyone else here cannot be held responsible for anything you do with the information that you learn in this thread.

This is for informational purposes only. Theres even movies and books that tell you this information, and those movies and books are on the press and store shelves today. IE: Book- Anarchy Cookbook. Movie- Hackers. (Not the best movie yet it can inspire some people.)

With that said, this shouldn't get locked as it does not break any laws nor forum rules. If it gets locked, could the admin or mod who locked it, notify me via PM and we can discuss it. Theres even some youtube videos that discuss phreaking and techniques. Even hacking too. Thanks.

I'm really fond of phreaking which in lamens terms is "Telephone Hacking". Such as: \

RedBox-ing: Playing a certain tone through a speaker to get free payphone calls. (You can produce the tones using a audiofile and a MP3 player.)

BeigeBox-ing: Creating a Service Man's telephone headset to get free calls.)

BlottoBox-ing: Creating a device that shuts down EVERY phone network on the certain service. (Requires extensive electronics knowledge. Really hard to do.

BrownBox-ing: Making a "party" line using 1 phone cord in your house.

BlackBox-ing: This ones hard to explain. At any given time, the voltage running through your phone is about 20 Volts. When someone calls you, this voltage goes up to 48 Volts and rings the bell. When you answer, the voltage goes down to about 10 Volts. The phone company pays attention to this. When the voltage drops to 10, they start billing the person who called you. The Black Box keeps the voltage going through your phone at 36 Volts, so that it never reaches 10 Volts. The phone company is thus fooled into thinking you never answered the phone and does not bill the caller. (I have not researche this much. This info may be inaccurate.)

ClearBox-ing: New technique and device that works in US and Canada. From what I know, its about hacking the phone itself so you don't have to pay for any call and you can dial like a regular phone.

GreenBox-ing: Same as RedBox-ing. Just a newer technique for newer phones. A lot more troublesome than the Redbox. The tones are different hertz which causes problems in older phones.|

BlueBox-ing: Same as RedBox-ing yet instead of you picking up the phone and using the tones to get free calls, this method requires you to actually interact with the Phone Providers Toll System. Very Risky.

There are also other phreaking techniques such as: ScarletBox-ing, GoldBox-ing, SilverBox-ing. Etc. I do not know how to use these and there not used anymore.

I also know that Telenet is great to learn how to use, as its built into every windows machine. Telenet is hooked up to about 80 unprotected networks worldwide. (Networks, not nodes). Those networks have TONS of unprotected computers and such. I do not suggest trying to connect/call any of these computers and such. Yet you can easily connect to your own computer or network, and play around (which is legal.).

Now some of you may have learned a lot from this post. If so, please contribute back.

Tell me and other users how to hack. (Like what programming language to learn, what methods to do and such.)

If discussing HOW to hack is not allowed here, just tell us the methods name so we can use google. (Just like what I did with the phreaking. I did not tell anyone how to actually create any of those "boxes". I just told what they are.)

I'll say it again, I do NOT advise trying any of these methods, I just think it would be good for people to learn. Like I said, Learning how to hack and phreak is NOT illegal yet performing it is. (Just like learning how to create a bomb. Its legal to learn, illegal to make or use.)
