Rightey ho, I'm doing my level best to get myself a working Portable SNES, based on a PAL version - no mini board for me <_<
Anyway, after almost a year, three screens and a fair ammount of singed flesh, I'm almost done. I just need to sort the audio, add a charging circuit, and stick it in a case.
Unfortunately, the audio seems to want to delay things, and i can't get any audio at all. I'm using an official PSOne screen, and it just isn't liking it. I'm afraid that I've blown the audio circuits somehow, but everything else is fine.
As I'm feeding 5v into the SNES from the screen regulators, I'm thinking that it could be something to do with the lack of higher voltages not powering something - an op-amp, say. Is this remotely feasible?
I'd really rather not have to get a new SNES to sort his out... I've re-wired the bloody cartridge slot on this thing! I don't want to do that again ;_;

I'm using the AV connector, I have no idea what or where the sound IC is, or the pinouts for it. All the instructions for wiring sound from an IC are for the mini SNES, as well, and the PAL SNES Doesn't appear to have that IC. No, that's not an issue, and never will be. the 1.3 Amp rating for the PAL SNES is the maximum current it can handle. It CERTAINLY doesn't use anything like that much current in the real world. Well, it's got to have an audio IC somewhere, but I have no clue what it looks like on the PAL SNES. The reason I ask is that if you were to tap the audio straight from the source, you would know if you fried something or not. I suggest doing some searching to see if you can find the component itself, perhaps even whipping out the multimeter and checking your leads.
Finaly found the audio IC. Something inbetween the IC and the AV port must have been fried. Anyway, if anybody's interested, see my other thread for the PAL IC.
