I noticed that a lot of folks use Acrlic and plastics to build their stuff here, but a those folks use hot glue to connect it all. Is there a reason you dont use WELDON-3 or 4 to do it?
I have built a few aquariums with acrylic and you have to use the WELDON to get a water tight seal where the acrylic is pieced together. It is a very watery substance that chemically bonds the acrylic together... getting a much cleaner and nice look than hot glue.
Here is a good acrylic works site, an aquarium site but great DIY with acrylic...

it starts to bond immediately with a strong bond within 15 mins or so, fully cured within 24 hours.
