Yes it is nice to be able to put your projects INSIDE something isn't it? You know, to hold everything together so it doesn't flop around? Discuss the techniques here!

Good way to remove stickers

Post by HotDog-Cart »

Hey guys. I found a new method to remove stickers, this method may be old to some of you but others should know about it. (Works great for NES and SNES Carts)

Grab a hair dryer and turn it on max. Hold it infront of the cartridge for a while. Wait for the sticker to get hot then peel it off.

(Just a warning: It would be wise to take your cartridge out of its case BEFORE doing this. Even though hot air is used as a test method in electronics, its not the best for the contacts on the board.)

This is not a new idea, just a old idea applied to a different situation...

Sometimes if you peel the corner up right you can peel most of the sticker off fairly easily. You have to be slow, but about half the time you don't get any residue left over. Once the paper starts to rip, you'll want to start on another corner. Then attack the leftover stuff with Goo Gone (the citrus based stuff, not Goof Off, which is a petroleum product and will attack plastic). Then clean the part in warm water with some dish soap. This will remove the residue Goo Gone leaves behind.

Is there anyway to take a sticker off but then put it back on? I'd like to paint some of my cartridges but really suck at doing borders, and I wanted to use spray paint anyways.

You could cover the sticker in painters tape, and then just peel it off after you spray it
