Nintendo World Cup for GameBoy

Post by Gunk »

I'm playing original Nintendo World Cup for my GBO and I noticed that some of the players, mostly the opposing team's, flash while playing a match, is this normal? I thought it may have to do wit my GBO screen, and I even tried a ROM version and it does the same...anyone have any input?

What you're seeing is most probably a bug/limitation in the hardware. The Gameboy can display a maximum of 10 sprites per line. Any more sprites than that and some will be hidden.
I've seen the same bug in action in the GB lemmings game as well as in one of the Zelda Ages games for GBC, where some big boss consisted of too many sprites. I've also been able to force the bug in Zelda DX.

NES version has the same issues/limitations.
SNESp - 100%
Protable X - 15% - I need money :(
