speaker problems

So my case is 80% complete and its time to add the speakers. I really didnt plan my space well and had to make a few changes in my design. now there is really no room for 2 speakers. If i was just to use one and connect both inputs to the one speaker would:
A) I loose a much audio quality?
B) I ruin the speaker at all?

or i guess i could add if i just used the left speaker, how much would i miss if i didn't have the right one?

i know there are stereo to mono converters, so i'm sure it wouldn't be hard to build it that way.

I believe it's okay to just wire both the left and right audio signals to one speaker to make it mono.
