DVD-PSP......I've finally tried it and it works!!!!

Post by Gamelver »

recently, I bought a 512mb card for my psp :).....now, I've gotten movies on there before, but those are just movies I downloaded....(oops, did say that out loud ;)?...)....anyway, I knew of a guide on engadget that told you how to get your DVDs onto a PSP, but it seemed like a lot of work and I didn't feel up to it.....until yesterday, when I tried it with KillBill Vol.2......took awhile, but eventally I was able to get it onto my psp in just 130 or so mb :D (the picture quality is crap, but I could make the file size bigger and have better quality ;))............so, I should be able to get 3 bad quality (but still watchable) movies on my memory card, 2 decent quality ones, and 1 good quality one :)............I'm now doing Return of the Jedi :D...........
Without games my life would have no meaning.
Well, I guess it would, but it would be a lot less fun!!!!!!!

But the cards are expensive too. Buy the card (Use 512 for the example) and the adapter and you pay $200.

Thats cool, but a DVDp would be cheaper, although larger, I'm not trying to eridicate your mod by thinking of other ways like some n00bs, but it can be done cheaper, but your mod is nice, I'll think I'll buy a PSP

were, it's not technically a mod (well, it kinda is, but not really), and if it were, it's not mine :(.......like I said before, I just followed the directions on engadget's guide and it worked :)....I was pretty excited about it, so obviously I had to post it on the benheck.com forums :P...

You see guys, the PSP system in Japan was 185 hundred dollars standard and 250 dollars for the value pack. A little pricey eh? So not as many people could buy games at 40 - 50 dollars a pop. So Sony made the value pack standard in the US, and not only that, but some stores make you get bonus packs with games (games from companies like EA *shiver*).

So Sony is actually losing money and instead of marketing the PSP on television, they are forcing these 'bundle packs' on the customers.

So guess what, because Sony is doing bad in Japan, we have to pay for it. Pun intended.
But the cards are expensive too. Buy the card (Use 512 for the example) and the adapter and you pay $200.
Nintendo DS - $150
Mario 64 DS - $30
Play-Yan - $70
One GIG SD card - $60
Total - $ 310 USD

PSP - $250
Lumines - $40
Memory Stick Duo ONE GIG - $150
Total - $440 USD

So yeah

I don't want to play low resolution movies, though ;)........and besides, it not like I bought the PSP JUST to play movies on it.....it's just a nice little bonus :)...

240x160 (DS) versus the PSP's 320x240. Really on those small screens it makes no difference in which is better. So really, they are both the same quality if you make the video hq.

If you want an MP3 player that has a library of over 1800 then go for Play-Yan and SP. It's small, and easy to fit in a pocket.

If you want movies go for Either DS or PSP, you could use the PSP for MP3s but if that thing falls you can say "Bye Bye Screen". And Sony won't fix it. Trust me.

The DS is too bulky for MP3s, but it's good for movies. Meh, whatever.

The PSP is a "I'm playing this at home plugged into the charger because it'll get stolen or broken if I take it out" portable. While Nintendo is well known for durability and reliability. My GBC stopped reading the carts, sent it in, got it back a couple of days later and it was a brand new system.

Hardware wise, Nintendo > Sony but because of Square-Enix, Software wise Nintendo < Sony.

What games do all you PSP and DS owners want? Here's my list.

PSP:
FF7: CC
Devil May Cry
FF7: AC UMD
Metal Gear Acid
Anything else Square-Enix can give me

DS:
Dynasty Warriors
Egg Monster Hero
Baten Kaitos
Pokemon Diamond/Pearl
Metroid Prime: Hunters
MarioKart DS
Animal Crossing 2
Naruto 3
Jump Superstars!
FF3 Remix
and anything Nintendo can give me.

What are you talking about?

http://psp.ign.com/articles/584/584983p1.html?fromint=1

Most game stores had a "fakey" sign until it was revealed that it would not be able to be purchased in the standard pack, but the value pack.

Yeah, so if you think you reserved the system for $180, you'll be in for a surprise when you find out you're $70 behind.
