This is the question you need to ask yourself.
Do you want to light the entire 5" screen on your portable WITH ONE LED?
Do you want to do that with a .013" thick backlight?
Then I need some donations.
I got in contact with this Lumitex and finally managed to get a price. Here is the e-mail

We have a minimum order of $500.00 and there will also be a small one time NRE charge from $300 to $600 depending on the application. We are a custom manufacturer and can produce the panel size you’ve requested it would be 0.013â€

Good call, I will ask about vender's. I also asked for some samples "so I can make sure it does want I want before I drop $500 on them." lol!timmeh87 wrote:Perhaps "estimated annual units", which is what you usually have to answer when you get samples.
So they are probably looking for something like "500 per year".
Ask them if they have any vendors that sell individual units.
Hopefully they go for it.
They will probably send you one in a size totally irrelevant to what you need.Dr. KillGood wrote:Good call, I will ask about vender's. I've been interested in swapping out the backlighting on a GameGear (in an attempt to make the batteries last longer), and this seems like an interesting option.
I'm interested in the broadest terms.
I'm also interested in back lighting my Game Boy Pocket.
And of course I have the same desire of portablization most everyone here has.
None of this will probably be very viable to me until I get real employment, but I'll get back to you.
