A steal on white LEDs

I just got 15 3mm white LEDs on Ebay for $6.00 (shipping included)!!! Thats a a tremendous deal! If anyone is looking for these, Ebay is the place to go!

which reminds me, I should get some blue LEDs... that would be awesome if I could squeeze them under the iBook I'm getting

yeah i wann mod a gba (need the damn screw driver) with blue orgreen leds i dont know if that would effect the colors of the game too much though maybe ill go with white.

Speaking of LEDs, I was wondering if there is a way to hook up multicolored LEDs (the ones that change colors depending on input power) in a chaser manner, but have about 40 on one chaser line. Is this possible? That and is there a way I could increase the pulse of the chaser stream (like a dial that changes the speeds)?
If you need an example of what I want to do, grab Zone of The Enders (the first or second game, either one is great) and stare at the mechs. How there is a pulse like light going around the mechs, I wanna do something like that (and change colors if I can).
Anyone got any ideas?

hmm... It'd require the use of a voltage latch system, a 555 timer, and a digital potentiometer. Probably possible though

It'd be a lot easier with a PIC though

Dang, very nice. But who really needs 500 of them? It'd be nice to go in on some of these with people though. I mean, blue LED mods for everything in my house would still probably leave me with 450 extras.

40 fo $15, now that is a good deal, a lttle better than the one I got. I don't wuite need that many though.

I saw an auction that had 10 blue LEDs with resistors (for operating on 12 volts if you want) for $3 with free shipping. What'll $15 get you at that deal? 50!
