9-Pin PC Joystick Connector

Post by Unidentified Assilant »

I have a spare 9-pin connector lying around with wires hanging out from an abandoned dreamcast project, and I thought to use it with a 16-pin wire from a PC, to use my competition pro C64 joypads with WinVICE, and with that, many console Joysticks will be useable, like SMS, Megadrive, Atari VCS 2600 and Commodore 64/Amiga. Does anybody have any insights or help I may need?

Let me look some stuff up, I'll get back to you.

Edit 1: It looks possible. I will post some wiring details in a few minutes.
Edit 2: Alright, I made some initial assumptions about the C64 joystick that don't appear to be true. However, I did find a guide to wiring an interface that will work for up to 2 digital joysticks (aparently C64 or Atari) you can find it here: http://w5.cs.uni-sb.de/~stahl/com/dualcircuit.gif

If your joystick is analog (or not enough buttons are supported by that interface) I may be able to come up with a probable wiring scheme, but no guarenties it would work.
