A need to understand this

I would like to make somthing i been reading the fourm and Ben web site for about 3 years.

I want to make my own umpc nothing cool looking but i want it to work.

But there is one thing i don't understand "Power"

How do i use batterys i have made pc for more then 20 years. So building a computer is not hard making it use batterys way over my head.

So i have a mini-itx working great it's useing a 23' lcd. But all i want to do is power the mini-itx with batterys then i will add a 8' lcd.

How do i do it where do i start ?

Voltage, it's force behind the electricity. This is why too much voltage can kill electronics. Best analogy would be that it's like the pressure of the water coming from your garden hose.

Amps, are the quantity of power supplied. This is only drawn on as needed so you don't have to worry about having too many amps. Best analogy would be that it's like the amount of water exiting the garden hose.

Watts, are a calculation of both volts and amps together.

I'm hoping this helps you better understand.

So doesn't that mean that Amps are in relation to Volts? (More pressure means more water, or vise-versa, to get more water, you need more pressure.)

Volts=Amps*Ohms (volts=current*resistance, V=IR) Doesn't really have a ton of use in portablizing. You can make a portable without knowing that, but you need to know it to have a better understanding of how electricity works.

I suggest reading stuff online or asking someone you know in real life to help you figure out the basics. Its pretty hard to explain, and only using text makes it even harder. Then, if you have any more questions or need something clarified, you can ask here and understand what you're told.
For example, my dad tried to explain electricity to me, so I knew the basics. Then I could learn better from others because I had a clue.

I don't know anybody who knows this, well maybe 1 person, but they are too lazy to explain anything to me.

Go to a Radio Shack, they have books on beginning electronics (or something like). That will be a good place to look for explanations as to what a lot of this means.

If you don't have a Radio Shack, or just don't want to spend the money, check out books from your local library. They're sure to have some beginner books, I'm sure.
