Putting a 133mhz FSB slot 1 CPU into a 100mhz FSB slot 1

Well, I can't seem to get this 700mhz P3 I pulled from a crappy IBM at school to work.

I am trying to put it into a Dell XPS T500 and after I put it in, it will beep 3 times, stop then beep 3 more times, and then does the same thing once more, and I get no Bios screen.

Google I found info on my exact computer, and somone said it should just bump the 700mhz 133mhz FSB CPU down to 600MHZ and run at the 100mhz FSB configuration.

I don't know it this computer I pulled it from worked or not, so I don't know the functionality of the Processor.

Usually 3 beeps means a memory error. So maybe check the ram.

1 beep, 4beeps, then the next 2 are 3 beeps.

I tried un-mixing the PC100 and PC133 RAM, didn't help.

I don't think the motherboard supports it , no wonder Slot-1 never caught on.

I'm gonna guess that the first beep you hear is a good beep. then the 4 beeps are bad. but I'm not sure what 4 beeps mean. I'll do a bit of googling and get back to ya on that one.

But seriously, Ive done a very similar thing with a good, overclocking motherboard. You have to play with the BIOS settings a bunch, and even then I only got it to run at the 100mhz equivalent speed (ie 75% real speed). It wasnt even worth leaving together.

Your beeps are probably the "what the hell is this cpu" warning, I doubt it will ever work in a way thats useful.
