Augmented Reality

Post by HotDog-Cart »

Hey guys. Simple question. Where can I download a program that does augmented reality? Like I see all these videos on the net, of people running software on their PC, and then putting some paper with black patterns on the ground and filming it through there webcam. When they film it, a CGI/Animation appears.

I want to do this. Where can I download a program or something that gives me the Pattern (so I can print it out) and makes the pattern into a animation when viewed through my webcam?

Thanks.

Alright...
What your looking for is very difficult to use, and not easy to find.
Now, I'm not saying there aren't free ones out there.
Maybe 2 or so.
But it's not as simple as some point and click system.

Now, here's what I'd recommend:
http://studierstube.icg.tu-graz.ac.at/download.php Studierstube.

http://studierstube.icg.tu-graz.ac.at/doc/stb4/ Nice guide.

Now, it's not a program.
It's a library meant to be used to make programs that involve augmented reality.

For an all in one program: http://planet.urv.es/planetrv/
Mr. Planet Lite is what you want.

Hey man, good luck getting it to work.
I'm not saying you won't be able to, but it won't be easy.
So, please show us any videos or anything you do with this!
I'm sure we'd all love to see!

Not to mention..its SPANISH.

I dont read spanish... *cough*

Okay I got the librarys, everyone of them. Yet, How do I use this program...? Like, I found some applications. but there just "demos" and "tests" but all they do make my webcam show on the my monitor in a window. I dont get this. Do I need to print out the papers and put them infront of my camera or something?

Slightly off-topic, but I recommend the animé Dennou Coil. Synpsis: In Daikoku City, all the kids have cyberglasses which provide augmented reality. But what is the dark secret surrounding the glasses?
