Amps question for cooling fan

Amps question for cooling fan

I have a fan that I want to use in a project and it draws .4 amps at 12v, and the power supply that I am using gives off 12v but it is 1.4 amps. If I hook the fan up to that will it fry it or will I need a resistor (I think not but not quite sure) Please Help!

Power supplies are rated at their maximum output. As long as the voltages match up the current will find its own happy place.

The rules change if its a "wall wart" style adapter but in this case it should be fine.
