Really guys. WHAT is this thing from like every castle in SMB3 for nes?
To me, It looks like a floating waffle of death.

You meen they aren't?

I don't think the programmers even know what it is. I think they just put it there as a random obstacle. Maybe it isn't some defined thing like a flaming gravity waffle. Maybe it's a custom built security system bowser had put in for peace of mind. I mean, it didn't work in the end but still.
