Spyware removal.

My non-computer-savvy friend has some spyware troubles, but I'm not really sure how to help him. Can anyone give me some advice?

I don't want to make an "I'm leaving" thread, but I've sort of lost interest in this board. So if you notice that I'm gone, that's why.

I found Spybot kept making my computer unstable; also recent reviews say it can't deal with new threats very well.

I use Spyware Blaster which is free and stops spyware getting to your PC in the first place, Avast! (free), AOL antispyware, Arovax Shield (free, detects changes in system), a firewall; and my computer is invisible on the internet (XP-Antispy) with Messenger uninstalled and all ports closed.

What other free ones are useful to have??
