Hey, I was considering a project for the Atari 2600's big brother, the Atari 5200. I want to make a paddle controller for the system, but there's a catch... I DON'T want to use a spare 5200 controller for it. Many people go that route, but I'd rather not because the side buttons on that stick are really mushy and imprecise.
I was thinking of putting a 500K Ohm potentiometer inside an NES controller, then capping the pot with a dial. However, which dial should I use? An Atari paddle would be way too big for the controller. I'd like to use something a little sleeker and a lot smaller, like the dial they're packing with Arkanoid DS in Japan.
The problem is that I just don't know where to get a dial like this. It'd be great to have something small and metallic, but anything responsive that I could grip between my thumb and forefinger would work. Got any suggestions?
