Uninstalling an XP partition

Well, i have an old gateway PC, that hah/has windows ME on it, and i installed a slim version of XP i don't want anymore. How can i delete the XP partition without deleting the ME one..

I don't know if ME has this but you could try.

Right-click My Computer and select Manage. It will bring up a management console window. In the right pane, click "Disk Management'. It will show a graphical readout of the partitions on each disk.

If that doesn't work, go to www.bootdisk.com and download the custom Windows 98 boot floppy with no ramdrive. (Obviously you will need a floppy drive and a blank or disposable floppy.) Make a note of which partition is which (for example, ME = 10 gig, XP = 6 gig, or which OS is on which file system.) Boot off this disk and type 'fdisk' at the command prompt. Delete the right partition (you only get one shot) and the space will be empty again. You will need to make a new partition to make the space usable again.

Really I think you're better off formatting the XP partition from inside ME; there's almost no chance of messing ME up that way. As long as the ME partition is the active partition you won't have a problem. If it is and you format it, you could render your computer unbootable because it can't load NTLDR or the other XP boot files. (Yes, I think it goes through some of them to bring up the boot menu.)

Why exactly are you choosing ME over XP?
