Apex DVD Screen Viewing Angle?

If you're making a portable you probably need something to watch it on. (Unless you want to guess what's happening in the game, but I wouldn't advise that) Anyway, this forum is your "Hacking a pocket TV/screen" one-stop solution. Share your experiences and knowledge here.

Apex DVD Screen Viewing Angle?

Post by tyromaniac »

Ok, so I found this portable dvd player with composite input in a rental car....how lucky could I be? It was broken...in the sense that the DVD player went on this baby, so I just opened it up, separated it from the DVD laser and now I have a portable screen.

Besides the point, I thought I'd tell you about that :P

It's an Apex digital portable DVD player screen.

You've probably seen those crappy portable screens that invert the colors and the brightness when you look at them slightly from the side....etc.

So my question is: Is this because the lights inside are pointed in one direction and is this fixable via an LED mod? or is it just a crappy screen that only looks good in one direction?

I'm pretty sure its the panel itself, if it was as easy as having another light, they probably would have done that. Viewing angles have gradually gotten wider, as technology progresses, I assume. Plus, the diffuser points the light straight up anyways, no matter where the source is.
