USB Human Interface Device

Okay, I just recently bought my Eee, and a few days ago I installed a full copy of Xp Professional (sorry vb_master, I decided to pirate it instead). And today I wanted to play some emulators on this beast, and I just can't without using my Xbox 360 controller, so I got the necessary driver, and I plugged it in. When I plugged it in, it did the usual "Found controller (Xbox 360 controller for windows)" but then another pop-up came up "USB Human Interface Device".


I'm not sure exactly how to word it, but the Eee can't find the plugin or driver or whatever, for this USB human interface device, and without it, the controller doesn't show up in any of the emulators.

What do I do?

During the raid, the feds would see it and toss it aside, simply assuming that it's a child's learning-laptop.

Cops have better things to do than to hunt down 14 year olds with warez.

Have you like... looked for a driver online or anything? sometimes pirated copies of windows have 'useless' drivers stripped out, etc.

I've searched, all I've found was a link to one that costs money to download, and a version for windows 98 that doesn't work.

Oh wait, you need a real copy of Windows to use that. Never mind.

Okay, did a little bit more googling, and found a person with a similar problem with a tablet, he started out by running the service manager, and finding the human interface device service and trying to get it to run, I did the same and it wouldn't start, said it couldn't find the specified module.

Next thing he did was copy a few files from another XP CD's i386 folder, which I did, except there was a few files that were not on the CD that he mentioned, so I downloaded them from a site. Except for 1 driver that I need, HIDusb.sys. Sounds exactly like what I need eh?

I've looked for the file, but no go. I've only found versions for win 98 and 2000. I was kinda hoping someone could make a copy of their file, and upload it for me. It should be in system32/drivers


edit: stupid me forgot to just get it off my desktop, happy to report that everything works now.
