Wooden SNES! (rekarp got engadgeted)

Post by timmeh87 »

Forgive me if this already has been posted.

Apparently someone has recently come out with an entirely wooden SNES portable. And it looks pretty pimp. engadget.com link

But after checking out like 5 articles on it, no one seems to want to say who actually made it, or provide more than two pictures. One article said that it was made by an 'engineer', but they might not have meant literally, as the person in the photos looks to be pretty young. (ie wearing camo shorts)

So does the creator lurk here? More pics for everyone? Link to worklog?

Yup. Rekarp made it.

And the picture of it running Starfox:

It doesn't help much when gawker blogs don't give credit where credit is due. They didn't even link to his site...

Aha, I knew it.

This is old news then eh? well about 10 tech blogs have picked it up in as many days, and none of them give any credit! What a crock.

Yep, saw this a couple of days ago, major props to you, Rekarp. You deserve it! :P

Though it does kinda piss me off that only a select few of our great portables ever get shown to the public. I mean, even some awesome ones (Turbo Tax's, Dave's, G-Force's, etc.) never make out outside our community, and big sites like engadget and hackaday pick, like, one good one per year and rally around it, saying, "OMGLOOKOUTBENLOLOLOL". Just kinda pisses me off that not many people know he's not the ONLY one who does this stuff!

Seriously. Image They babble for a few paragraphs on whatever shiny thing catches their attention with little to no knowledge of the inner workings or the time and effort that went into the project.

The only "blog"-blogs (not sites that use WordPress as a CMS like here and AFoR) I really look at are Hack a Day and the blag over at xkcd.com. In general, I despise blogs. I have better things to do with my time than read about what someone I have never met (and will more than likely never meet) found floating in a puddle today.

What I really hate is when they link to another blog. And then that blog links to another, and the process continues until you somehow wind up back where you started (now how the crap did that happen? some bloggers must have time machines...). Hack a Day seems to be the only one that almost always links to the actual source.
