Weird thing that's been happening to my computer

I dont know what's going on with it but it's bad . I'll be in the middle of doing something, and the computer will start running slowly. all of the sudden everything will close except for the background. It reminds me of windows 95 . anyone know what to do about this?

another thing: when I run a virus check it says "shell32.dll". Now, im not exactly sure what shell32 is, but im pretty sure you need it. under "result" is just says change. help?

I belive shell32.dll is somthing to do with icons... I'd backup your data and go to a restore point.

Did you install some kind of skinning software?

Back up your stuff onto another hard drive and do a repair install. (System Restore's restore points can get infected too...)
