Where to find aluminum side wall material?

Yes it is nice to be able to put your projects INSIDE something isn't it? You know, to hold everything together so it doesn't flop around? Discuss the techniques here!

Where to find aluminum side wall material?

Post by limpport »

Like the topic asks, does anyone know where 1/16" aluminum strips can be found? I check frequently at my local hardware stores, but they have 1/8" minimum (and it's steel). Has anyone had luck with some kind of online store that carries it?

I imagine you are asking this because Ben uses this on the sides of his portables in his book.

A good alternative would be (wait for it...) cut a strip of mounting board or thick card and hot glue it in place on the edges, then use some right angled triangles and hot glue these between the case and the mounting board sides.

Far less hassle than having to bend metal, and make it look nice. Don't be fooled, mounting board is quite tough.
