I finally got a network adapter for my PII Thinkpad. Problem is, I'm addicted to using a middle mouse button when working with tabs in Firefox, and the laptop doesn't have one. It does have a center button, though, which can scroll (hold button down and use trackpoint to scroll), but not click links or tabs like a middle button. So I need a mapper to make the center button act like a middle button on a mouse. Anyone know of one? It literally takes me twice as long to do stuff without the speed offered by the middle button. It has 98SE on it.
Find the control applet for the trackpad, it likely has a mapping utility built-in. Mapping scroll to middle button press would be hard in an external program.
The stuff in the Control Panel doesn't do that... To scroll, you hold down the center button and move the trackpoint, so all that'd have to be done is make it think that the center button being pressed is a middle button. I've been searching Google, and I can't find anything...
I'd guess a program like JoyToKey might work. There's a bunch of programs along those lines. Mostly meant for joystick/gamepads, but I've used them for other things as well.
