Line level Stereo Audio out on Genesis Model 1

Has anyone successfully completed line level audio output for a Sega Genesis Model 1? I saw some discussion on it here as well as some other forums, but I never saw a completed mod.

Can it be done with what is on board? Is the single LM358 enough? Should the LM358 be thrown out an a new "external" preamp be built using the output signals from the CXA-1034?

I wanted to stir up some more discussion on this. Please feel free to share your thoughts.
