Connection Wii to Internet

Post by Kurt_ »

For some reason, the last topic got deleted. Connecting to the internet is a Tech Q & A, isn't it?

I can't get my Wii connected to the internet. I get errors like "Cannot connect to Server" or "Cannot connect to the internet" and once I magically got "Firewall settings are incorrect'.

My setup is as follows:

Cable - Cable Modem - D-Link DI-604 Firewall Router - Netgear WGT624 (v2) Wirless Firewall router - Wii (via Wireless).

Any suggestions? I know a few of you have Wiis. I can't solve this solution even with the help of the internet!

I bleaive it's your firewall blocking your conection. If you can disable it and try again. Also check if your ISP is compatable with the wii. Some are not.

Who knows if the Namco Portable will ever become a reality? :P

Do you have any type of security set up on your network?

For our network, we couldnt get the WEP or WPA passwords to work, so we put a limit on how many people can be connected at once. For my network, I just had to raise the number to allow for the wii to connect to our network.

I checked, I have no security no my network. The D-Link router has crazy protection, but I'm not sure how to configure it for my Wii. I've only ever configured software for it.

Bumpity Bump.

I got my Wii online (I used the DS Wifi settings, except for the IP of the Wii), but I have been having some router troubles lately.

Every now and then (a few times every day, maybe once every hour or two) the internet can't connect, and when I type in http://192.168.0.1 it brings me to the Wireless Router, which is not directly connected to the internet. I reset this router recently to see ifa nything in that area was causing my Wii trouble.

Now, with two routers on one IP and constant internet shut-offs, I had to do something.

I set the wireless router to a new IP address (on the LAN) of 192.168.1.1. This solved the problem for now, I'll see if it bugs anything up. But is this what I should do? Should I have done this at all? Will this mess something up in the future?
