Just to warn those who got the same idea I did to trade up.
So I went out and traded my regular Oblivion copy for the Game of the Year Edition. I didn't want to pay the ridiculous cost of the XBLM downloads and waste precious hard drive real estate on expansions that I thought I was going to run off of the new GOTY disk.
However, if you buy the GOTY edition you get two disks, the first disk is the same game disk you get with the regular version, the second disk is just an install disk for the expansions.
So I got burned, oh well, still cheaper than the downloads, I get a hard copy, and I still have 10.8GB left on my Hdd. I refuse to pay $180 for 120GB Hdd ever.
It doesn't really say any specifics anywhere on the case, it just says memory needed, which I guess alludes to the fact that you just get an install disk........Lame.
Oblivion GOTY Edition.... not what it seems

I know it couldn't all fit on one DVD.Twisted Warthog wrote:Both of the expansions were to complex and huge to put on one disk my friend. I bought the game too and i still have 13GB left on my system, more then enough.
They could have incorporated the expansions and the game all on two DVDs and had you swap disks out.
I'm not that pissed, but what's the point of having the GOTY when it's just an install disk when you could just download it off of XBLM? I love the game, but if I had known it was just an install disk I wouldn't have blown money trading up.Twisted Warthog wrote:If your so pissed off then take the expansions off and sell the game.

This is actually good news for me by the sounds of it. So based on what I've read, in theory I can get the GOTY edition from Gamefly, install the second disc on my hard drive, and then mail it back and have the extra content work with my original Oblvion disc.
So I wouldn't be out any money other than what I spend on GF each month already. Hopefully this works, as that would rock!
Too bad you got burned on it though, although I must say I would rather buy a physical copy of the disc rather than rely on a downloaded copy from MS if I were paying for it. Hence I haven't bought the Shivering Isles yet. I'm not dropping $30 on one piece of downloadable content!
