Translating songs from one language to another

Have you ever considered this? I just thought that GO!!! by FLOW would sound AWESOME in spanish, so I started translating it, out of boredom. How is it? Feel free to criticize!

I tried my best to make the syllables fit. How did I do so far? Is the grammar terrible? Please tell me!

I'll just say that I don't speak spanish, so I can't really help you.

But, when rammstein changed Du Hast to english, they screwed it up!

But does it sound good? I translated it from an English translation of the original Japanese. It's just part of the song, not the whole thing. I can't figure out how to spread out "Cut my tomorrow" into around 21 syllables in Spanish. Any ideas?

99 luftballoons was changed to 99 red balloons.. but that doesn't make sense. luftballoon = hot air balloon.

i think whenever you translate a song, you take away a bit of it's culture and representation every time.

totally off topic, but if you like german music check out Wir Sind Helden. we get to listen to them in german class.

And "Du hast" means "You have". Not "You hate".
(Well it can, just not in the context of the song. And 99 Luftbaloons rocks!)

ah, the never ending quiry. du hast and it's meaning. maybe some other german speaking people could shed some light upon this?

i was taught that in the context of the song it means you hate me. but upon taking german i learned it was you have me.

now i'm starting to understand the perfect past tense in which haben oder sein is used.

"du hast mich gefragt" means "you asked me".

so all in all i'm confused. isn't kyo from germany? help us, dude.

Bah, German. How useful is it in America? Not one bit. Spanish is where it's at! (Much easier to learn, along with the other romance languages.)

Speaking of Spanish, I was flipping channels the other day and went past a familiar show, but it was... different. Its theme went something like this:

Bill el cientÃfico

I don't know how it was spelled because I don't know Spanish and closed captioning was off so I couldn't see the words, so some BSing was in order.

Not directly. It has a ton of Latin, and the sentence structure is WAY different.
