Need some help. Quick

ok, i got windows movie maker. (the good XP version). now, whenever i import a video, and try and place it in the timeline, i get an error, and shutdown. no matter what this happens. i can place music, but not video..

Easy solution: Don't use WMM. This is coming from an amateur video editor, but still...

Harder solution: You're not providing enough information... what error do you get? Is there an error code?

well after some reasearch, it seems that im running WMM 2.0 on SP2, but i should be running 2.1 on sp2. though when i try and get 2.1, it says to go get sp2, but i already have it

found the error

Quartz.dll is some extension for Quicktime I think. Do you have QT installed?

I didn't "uninstall" my move maker. In fact, I was pretty fed up with it too, and inspired by this thread to finally reinstall it. Followed the CNET link, manually deleted my Movie Maker folder in Program Files and installed through the exe. Works like a champ.

Actually Quartz.dll is a Microsoft DirectShow filter (known in the days of ye old as ActiveMovie). Since DirectX 7 it is integrated with DirectX. What DX version do you have? You should have 9.0c. Start > Run > "dxdiag"

Oh whoops, I always get DirectShow stuff confused with QT, no idea why. Anyways yes, if you don't have 9.0c, get it.

well, i have DX9 installed. and what ive researched ive got this:

i have SP2, running WMM 2.0. When you have SP2 you should have WMM 2.1
though i cant figure out how to fix this >_<
