A proposition

Post by benol »

I propose that we make the authentication question (2+2=?) a much harder problem, not only to prevent the macros that still get in, but to limit the people that come here that might get deterred by a complicated mathematics problem, which would in turn, help enforce the 13+ rule. (but by all means, anyone 12 and under who can answer a complicated math problem should be allowed to enter)
PM me for DS friend codes. PLEASE!

It's just meant as a bot filter; it doesn't need to be an idiot-detector.

There was a site though, I don't remember which, that had a randomly generated addition or subtraction problem. That could work better than a static "2+2".

Exactly. Besides, we have our ways with dealing with idiots, one way or another.

The spambots we're getting now aren't because they've figured out our little 2+2 mod, but instead because the mod's only been installed at this new subdomain. The spam is all coming from the old directory, where the mod is not installed. Someone with FTP access *cough*gannon*cough* needs to redirect people from the old domain to this one, that will fix the problem.

Ugh. For the last time, you do not need to be 13 to be let in. Those are phpBB's default rules, not ours. As CTFan stated, the bots have not discovered our prevention, that's not the problem.
