Ram problem.

Post by XPCportables »

I have 1 gig of ram in my machine, 2 sticks of 512mb ram. But I have a problem. one stick is PC3200 and the other is PC2700. I really didn't mean for this to happen, I just stumbled on a deal for a PC3200 stick. I know for sure that this is crippling my performance, so I was wondering how I might go about getting my PC2700 running as fast as my 3200. I really haven't found any help on the internet. Thanks.

I have the exact same thing as you (kind of)

One stick (256) runs at 333 mhz and another (512) runs at 400 mhz. The thing you must do is not be greedy. In order to get both to run properly you must run it at the speed of the slower RAM, which in your case is also 333mhz, I believe.
