I know Forza 2 just came out, but sadly I dont have a 360. But I do have an Xbox, PS2, and Dreamcast. anyway, I've been wanting a good fun custimizable racing game. I know most games wont come close to Forza, but im sure there a few alternatives. The Gran Turismo series is really cool. My friend told me there isnt a lot of custimizing in that game. (By the way, I'm talkin about the 3rd one.) So, could someone point me in the right direction here? Thanks!
Gran Turismo is more about performance tuning than "the Fast and the Furious". (I guess by "customizable" you mean speakers, decals, and lights, since the GT series trumps almost everything else for adjustments that actually change the car's performance.) Tourist Trophy is fun too, though it's basically Gran Turismo 4 with motorcycles.
Hint for easy money: In the Special Races arena, run the second easy rally (I forget the title but it's a Mediterranean-style track with a blue logo). The car you're up against is most likely either an Audi Quattro or a Lancia Delta, so you should be able to beat them easily with something like an RX7 or MR2. Win both races and sell the prize car; it's worth 265,000 credits. Use that money to buy and tune a better car; I chose the GT40. Once you have a decent car and enough practice to handle it, the races that car can enter in are much easier.
If you're into ricing, get NFS:Underground 1 or 2. I wasn't too crazy about the "urban" feel of the game or the more appearance-oriented "tuning", but they're easier to pick up and play thanks to the more arcade-style physics.
NFS Underground 2 is good, the first one is more structured, the second involves more free driving, I personally like 2 best. I hate ricers in real life, but the game is still pretty good.
While we're on the topic of racing games, does anyone know of any good xbox (not 360) rally/offroad racing games?

My favorite 2 racing games/series (for Xbox) are Need for Speed Underground (The first 1, I didn't like the 2nd that much) and any of the Burnout Games. For PS2 I would go for any of the Burnout games and if you love realistic racing games get any of the Grand Turismo Games. (I hate them)
forza 1, PGR and the sequal(s),burnout revenge, etc. i dont think he meant customizing like you did bic, there is a HUGE difference between the customization stuff you can do in forza 2 and the riceing out you do in NFS
closest to forza2 will be forza1. Still a very nice game with the proper wheel. I've been thinking of setting up the dream forza xbox machine for a while now. The first forza will still do the multiple screens/xboxes network thing.
otherwise sega gt for xbox or dc was okay, but was no forza.
I guess if you are willing to do arcade racers, San Francisco Rush 2049 on DC was very nice. It had custom part upgrades as well--a very complex game compared to the arcade release.
