Webcam hack/build question?

What would have to be done to make a USB webcam the host? so it could be hooked up to other things that are able to take video input? Namely the PSP, don't want to wait for or go through the trouble of getting a GoCam if I can make it myself.
Is there a small USB out color camera that does this already for cheap?

As far as i have seen, its not possible, the webcam itself can't really be a host, there is no hardware support for it.

My webcam is lacking a case though.
