Ps1p help

Post by HotDog-Cart »

Hey, I need some help here. I'm one part away from finishing my ps1p.
I glued my diskdrive to the bottom of my case, but now I cannot get my hands into the case to hook the drive to the motherboard.

Any tips? I really dont wanna rip the drive out again, as I have nomore glue left. Like, I can get the white male adapter to hook into the female, but I cant the orange ribbon cable into its slot as I cant get my hands near it when the motherboard is inside the case.

Try tweezers or something.

I'm having a similar problem, but with a regular, un-modded PSX. I disassembled it to see why it wouldn't get past the second screen (First=Sony Computer Entertainment, second is the black background with Playstation), and now, the only thing I can't put back in it's place is that less-than-one-millimeter orange ribbon cable. It's like, the cable is so tiny, but it's slot is even smaller.
:( Any help on that? (Not getting past the second screen or getting the ribbon cable in)

Get some needle nose pliers, grab the plastic tab and push/wiggle it into the slot.

As for not getting past the Playstation logo screen, it sounds like a disc read problem. Have you tried cleaning the lens?

I think I tried cleaning the lens--meaning I'm not sure what the "proper procedure" is for cleaning the lens. What exactly should I do?

Get a q-tip, dip it in rubbing alcohol, and rub it on the lens. Make sure the q-tip isn't dripping or anything.

Thanks. While I'm at it, any tips for painting this thing? I'm painting it a gloss white (was $.99 :D) and I have painter's tape for masking everything off.

Edit: Is there any substitution for rubbing alcohol? I actually don't have any right now. :S
