PSone-type screen but with different controller, help

If you're making a portable you probably need something to watch it on. (Unless you want to guess what's happening in the game, but I wouldn't advise that) Anyway, this forum is your "Hacking a pocket TV/screen" one-stop solution. Share your experiences and knowledge here.

PSone-type screen but with different controller, help

Post by diy_guy »

First off this screen is the same as a PSone screen, just a different controller. I would like help to find the inputs to give it RCA type inputs.

Okay I pulled a dud Mintek MDP-5860 portable DVD player form someones trash a while back and decided that the screen looked ripe for the picking!

The screen is a LTS500Q1-GF3
From my online research I think this is the same model screen in the PSone display unit. But it's a different controller circuit.
The controller circuit attached via ribbon cable is centered on a AN2546FM TFT LCD color monmitor controller IC. Attached are links to the monitor and IC official .pdf datasheets.
The ribbon cable that attaches the screen to the LCD is 30-pin at the circuitboard, unknown at the lcd.
The Controller circuit has a 20-pin cable (the one with the wide thin connector), and a 3-pin cable (red, white, black wires)
2 small speakers attached

I wan't to be able to make this a stand alone monitor that I can connect audio/video inputs from various sources to and play. Is this possible and what can I expect to be able to connect to? As well as how can I accomplish it? I've searched all over the internet and I believe this site is my best chance.

Hey, oh sorry i have'nt replied to your message. i have'nt been on these forums for a wile.

Ok about your screen. From looking at your pictures, the controller board looks to have a simalar components to a psone screen. Its got the same Ics and everything. I can't realy help that much but i can try. I'd have to trace the tracks on the screen board to see witch are for composite, power, RGB. But maybe you could? Firstly try and see where the power is connected in to the screen board and witch go to the power regulator that i can see in the picture (its below the lcd ribbon cabe). The cable with the red and white wires would be for the audio signal. And the composite or RGB signals would be on the 20 pin connector some where.
