Starchoice sattelite tv dish internet?

Is there any way to pick up satellite internet with a starchoice TV dish?

I googled it but dident find anything useful? I dont see why this is not possible?

no there is no way, thats Ku band satalite tv using digicypher II and FSS satalites. totally different from satalite internet

Satellite internet requires to send data to the satellite, which TV dishes don't do (they only receive IIRC)

even if it did work satalite internet has incredible amounts of lag

One of my friends was getting satilite internet, and was baging me out because of the 'great ping' he would get.

He got it, they got dsl the next week.

thanks, i was thinking a cheap alternative to dial up which is all i can get where i live (that or satellite)

well it could have been cheap with a starchoice dish

after 10 years of dial up..... you get kinda pissed off at dial up

Didn't somone get dialup to do higher speeds at one stage? LIke 300kb/s?

I remember hearing about people dialing 2 times and somehow connecting with that to speed it up some.

1. Find a friend with cable / dsl.
2. Make sure you have line of sight beetween your houses.
3. Make a 2 way laser link beetween them..
4. Enjoy! (it was on had i think?)

Or he could use the satellite as a WiFi antenna and use his friend's or anyone elses internet.
