Can someone give me a wiring diagram for fan mod please?

Like it says in the topic name, I need a diagram for putting a fan in a stock N64. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Ummmmm... Hello? I posted this like an hour ago, ten of you are online, some of you have a lot of experience with the N64, and there's only one view for this topic. Any help, please?

1. Why?
2. Be patient.
3. You just have to wire it into the 12v line after the switch (so it turns off) and to any ground.

Yeah, just tie the fan's power lines up to the 12v line, what's the confusion? Or are you just making sure?

If you don't know how to hook up a fan you probably shouldn;t be modding a N64...

Gump-in-space - Great to see you are going to have a go. I really suggest you look at a thread like mine to see exactly what processes you need to adopt and make jolly sure you are comfortable to perform the proceedures - if you aren't, put the case back on and hot glue it together again! Better that than frying the thing, or taking the system apart and then not being able to proceed further!

Okay! All I need to know is which F-ing pins are what on the board! 6 pins- I know pins 2 and 3 are 3.3V, so which of the other pins do I solder to? I think putting my wires on pins 4 and 6 will do it am I right?

Ok mate, as per Harshboy's diagram, looking at the 6 pins from the underside of the N64 mobo:

Red = 12v line (the one you need for the positive terminal)
Grey = ground (attach your negative terminal to any of these)
Orange = 3.3v lines (both needed).

You could connect your fan to the negative (pin 5) and 12v positive (pin 6). My voltage is 7.5v as I use an external mains power (PSone PSU), 12v rated fans work fine with this.

If you do that, it'll stay on even when the N64's off.

What you need to do is follow the 12v trace (it has a big white label on it that says 12v or something like that) to the power switch. The power goes through the switch to the pin right next to it (I forgot if the trace connected to that pin is labeled, but I think it is. I don't have a mobo laying around to check). Connect the red fan wire there and ground the black one anywhere where there's ground.

I could give a better explanation if I had a picture of the pins under the power switch.

do multimeter work on the switch. One of the top pins is 12v when on. Connect fan there.
